Species: Bieuen

Racial Background Notes - Bieuen

Racial Characteristics

The Bieuen is a small race. Often they have been small enough in numbers to be considered endangered. This and their hard working mindset make them quite valuable.

Bieuen do not lie. The concept of lying or telling a falsehood is beyond a Bieuen's ability to grasp. They do recognize that some people of other races may not always tell the truth.

They are quite intelligent, quickly mastering a skill, craft or art form by adulthood. They will usually gain secondary proficiency in additional skills as necessary; however they will not be able to reach the level of mastership as that of their innate talent.

They have near perfect recall and comprehension (as long as the concepts are within their grasp).

They have a tendency to answer any question put to them in detail.

Bieuen possess an extreme tolerance to pain. They do not feel pain the same way we do. They are aware of damage to their bodies, but may not experience the unpleasantness of pain caused by injury.

Fear is not some thing which comes easily to a Bieuen. The normal concepts of fear escape Bieuen. They can recognize danger, but it is in a tactical, analytical, or acedemic view. It is said that if a Bieuen is scared, then you’re doomed.

Bieuen are almost always in high spirits, even in the worst of situations. If they are around others who are not in high sprites, especially those close to them, they will tend to try and cheer every one up.

Bieuen do not recognize family, house, clan, or kingdom borders, authorities, or disputes. They know only their master and take orders from them or their directly indicated representatives exlusively.

Bieuen are loyal to their masters and will not revel any secret or confidential information to any one who is not suppose to know the information, even after a change of masters. They are very good at keeping secrets, as long as they know something is meant to be a secret. They will not revel a previous owner's secrets to a new owner even under direct orders unless the previous owners gives the “ok” or is proven dead.

The Bond

Most Bieuen are magically linked to a card resembling a playing card. The face of the card is usually an indication of the Bieuen's talent. The Bieuen's personal crest is depicted on the cards face, center. This same crest is also imprinted as a tattoo on the Bieuen's forehead. The Bieuen are bound to these cards, and thus to the master of the card. A Bieuen will not hesitate to carry out the orders of its master. The condition of the card is a reflection of its associated Bieuen's condition and health.

On occasions there are Bieuen who are born without a bonding card. These Bieuen are considered free Bieuen and can not be bound to a master.

When Bieuen mate, it is for life. A mark will appear on each Bieuen's card indicating that he or she is mated to another Bieuen. Incorporated into this mark is the crest of the Bieuen’s other half. Once mated, it is wise to keep the pair together, as long cooperation can result in a sad and depressed Bieuen. If left too, long this condition can result in death.

Description

Bieuen resemble short slender humans averaging 3 feet in height. They have above average dexterity in their toes. Their eyes usually have an alert, intelligent and curious quality to them. Their skin tone runs from a light pale to dark brown. Hare and eye colors vary greatly and in much greater shades and colors than most other races. Colors can include: Black, Blue, Brown, Yellow, Green, Blond, White, and Red.

Common Ethos on Bieuen Handling

Dew to their intelligence, loyalty, trustworthiness, and rarity, Bieuen are considered a very valuable commodity to have. More valuable then common slaves and in most cases, employees.

Bieuen are not micro-managed. Simply give them a strait forward objective to accomplish and let him or her figure out how best to get it done. They are most efficient this way.

A happy Bieuen makes for a generally happy house and an efficient and speedy worker. Bieuen happiness is infectious.

Any changing of hands of a Bieuen's master card must be done in the Bieuen's presence in plain view to avoid confusion, and authenticate the change of ownership.

Any dictating command of a Bieuen to an employee for any length of time must be done in the Bieuen's presence. Once done the Bieuen will follow the employee's commands as if they were their master's.

Paired Bieuen must be kept together even in trade. If two Bieuen from different owners are mated, their owners must make some arrangements to keep the two together.

No Bieuen may be beaten or assaulted.

It is the responsibility of the master to keep their Bieuen in good health.
